A self-help, how to DVD designed for the beginner on how to lift weights safely at home.  Follow along as you choose from 5, 10, or 15 minute workouts for your upper body, and add a 5 minute workout for your legs if you want.

 

For years patients have asked me to show them how to lift weights safely and quickly at home.  You want to lift weights, but you may not want to go to a gym or hire a personal trainer (or you can’t afford them).  And you know lifting weights is important for your bones and your health.  This DVD is suited for someone who has never lifted weights, and someone who is interested in lifting dumbbell weights safely.  With this DVD, you can gain all the benefits from lifting weights including stronger bones, more flexible muscles and joints, improved cardiovascular function, and burn more calories. 

 

I have worked on too many people who hurt themselves when lifting weights incorrectly.  This inspired my book HAPPY BACK to have a chapter discussing lifting weights safely in a gym.  The chapter focuses on machines and exercises to use and avoid, and increasing awareness of proper posture and positions to decrease injuries.  This DVD also focuses on these same issues, but in a home environment, with dumbbells only, and with lighter weight.     

 

Introductory tracks review goals and benefits, how to lift weights safely, and each exercise you will do is demonstrated without weights first, so you can see and feel how each exercise works.

 

WEIGHTLIFTING FOR THE BEGINNER AT HOME will provide quick, effective workouts you can do anytime in the comfort of your home.  You can choose from 5, 10, or 15 minute upper body workouts, and you can add the 5 minute leg workout if you want. 

 

Some of the exercises are performed standing, some sitting, and some lying down.  Besides comfortable clothing, the only other thing you will need is dumbbells, and they are very inexpensive, or even free if you borrow them from someone not using them.  You will only use free weights; no expensive machines are necessary.
